OMG FINISHED ART. And it's not even [overtly] DARK. Clearly, KJ has died and I have replaced her with an alien. WAIT. Wait, wait, can it be...? IS IT REALLY? YES! T+J!!!
Except it's not. Depending on which one you ask.
More seriously now. Over the years, the conflicts between Max and Telion over Telion's kingship reached a crisis point. There came a night when Max made it clear that he would not hesitate to kill Telion if he thought it in the best interest of the country... and that it just might be.
That night, Ter asked Joi, his witness, not to leave. They fell asleep together on the floor. He watched the sun come up, thinking over his life and his heart, and praying for her not to wake up. It was the only chance he had to hold her.
(When she did wake up, she spooked pretty badly. Joi is not a touchy-feely person by nature, and didn't share Ter's feelings.)
Also: hurrah for new color schemes and new shading techniques.
Cariad used to spook whenever someone touched her, because of her Assassin profession. Thankfully Cante got her over that, though it took a long time. She still starts when someone other than family touches her, and she's getting better at not pummeling a stranger that touches her.
This is ADORABLE o A o The colour scheme is wonderful and I definately got a melancholy kind of feel from it the moment I saw it. I am such a sucker for fluff, and this is. Just. KGjhksjdg <3
I'm liking the new shading technique. On reading this description, I'm really wondering about Max's character. If his only motive is the good of the country that is....
it's piece like this that make me wish very badly that you didn't decide to stop producing KoH as a comic... but then again, it makes this all the more special
-- "You must be the worst artist I have ever heard of." "AH! but you HAVE heard of me"
Yeah, the essays... *sigh* Whatever. I'm happier now.
As for the shading: um... 2 layers of cel shading, artfully blurred, plus several layers of gradient shading (1 for each object/plane as well as overall), plus four layers or so of random scribble shading (i.e. using transparent brushes instead of transparent layers.) And a bit of the same for highlights. As for their hair, I don't even know.
Ohhhh, this would have been SO far down the road, I doubt you would have even seen it in the comic. However, novel version of KoH is about 40% done... so...

I may not be perfect, but Jesus thinks I'm to die for.
And the shading is beautiful. I wish I knew how you are doing it.
